Market booths closed for the season – see you in the winter!

Bye bye lettuces – see you again in the winter!

Zzzzzzzz…. It’s time to put our farm to rest for the summer.

The 2012 youth Crew Members graduated last month, and Farm Manager Leo Gorman has been working with a steady stream of volunteers to finish their work and put our farm to rest for the summer. Heaping compost lines the planting beds, and new cover crops of clovers and beans are peeking up through the soil. It’s summertime in New Orleans, and we follow the practice of many chemical-free farms of stopping produce production during the hottest summer months. Our fields are busy soaking up the heavy rains and nutrients from our cover crops.

Although you won’t see our booth bustling with young workers for several months, please keep visiting the other fabulous farmers at The Sankofa Farmer’s Market  (new location at 3819 St. Claude Avenue) and Hollygrove Market and Farm (now open on Sundays). We will announce our return to market online this fall. Stay tuned!
